On Friday night Derek Groomer was one of forty-three Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) for the JB Robinson Memorial. Falling one spot short of a transfer spot in his heat, Groomer was sent into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Cruising to a consolation win, Derek earned a 18th place starting spot for the feature. Working his way into the top ten, Derek Groomer gained nine spots in the A-Main reeling in a 9th place finish.

April 23rd, 2016 -
Making his first trip of the season to Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) on Friday night, Derek Groomer was one of seventeen Open Wheel Modifieds signed in. Storming to the front from his 3rd place starting spot in his heat, Groomer captured a heat race win earning him a 2nd row starting spot for the feature. Hanging onto his position, Derek logged a 3rd place finish behind Josh Harris and Jacoby Hines with Kent Robinson and Jason Clark rounding out the top five.

Saturday night brought Groomer to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for the regular night of racing. Recording a 4th place finish in his heat, Derek earned a 10th place starting spot for the feature. Falling back, Derek Groomer retired a 19th place outing.

April 16th, 2016 -
Traveling to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) on Saturday night, Derek Groomer was one of twenty-two Open Wheel Modifieds signed in for the regular night of racing. Starting on the pole of his heat, Groomer captured a heat race victory sending him into the main event with a 3rd place starting spot. Working his way into the lead, Derek held on to pick up his second win of the season with Mary Oneal, Victor Lee, Jacoby Hines, and Richie Lex trailing him across the finish line. (Schaefer Photo)

April 2nd, 2016 -
Derek Groomer returned to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) on Saturday competing in the Modified division. Scoring a runner-up finish in his heat, Groomer transferred into the main event. After jumping out to the lead in the feature, Derek suffered a broken coil resulting an early exit from the A-Main.
