Kicking off the Memorial Day weekend, Derek Groomer visited Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) on Friday night for the UMP sanctioned event. In a field of twenty-cars, Groomer gained one spot in his heat recording a 2nd place finish behind Jacoby Hines. Moving up one position in the feature, Derek notched a 3rd place finish behind Jacoby Hines and Jordan Weaver with Cullen Goodman and Bradley Sterrett rounding out the top five.

The following night Groomer stopped at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indiana) to a field of twenty-eight entries. Hanging his 3rd place starting spot in his heat, Derek was slated 8th for the feature. Falling out of the top ten, Derek Groomer retired a 20th place outing.

May 21st, 2016 -
Powering the Jerry Burton Masonry #D48 Open Wheel Modified, Derek Groomer invaded Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indiana) on Saturday night for hte regular night of racing. With 26 cars signed in, Groomer started the night off with a heat race win putting him on the pole for the main event. Jumping into the lead early, Derek Groomer charged to his third victory of the season over Jordan Weaver, Travis Shoulders, Randy Shuman, and Kenny Carmichael Jr.

May 14th, 2016 -
With the weather affect the last few weekends, Derek Groomer returned to action on Friday traveled to Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Indiana) competing in a field of twenty-three UMP Modifieds. Placing 5th in his heat race, Groomer earned a 15th place starting spot for the feature. Falling one position in the A-Main, Derek retired a 16th place outing.
