September 29, 2018 - On Saturday evening Derek Groomer returned to Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indiana) for the regular night of racing. With 17 Open Wheel Modifieds on hand, Groomer landed a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Tim Prince locking him into the 2nd-starting position for the feature. Continuing his red-hot month of September, Derek outran Tim Prince, Richie Lex, James Walters, and Jay Humphrey Jr. to pick up his 11th win of the season.

September 23, 2018 - Derek Groomer returned to Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indiana) on Saturday night competing in a field of 19 Open Wheel Modifieds. Jumping up one spot in his heat, Groomer landed a runner-up finish behind Jay Humphrey Jr. positioning him on the pole for the feature. Holding off 4th-starting Jay Humphrey Jr., Derek Groomer streaked to his 10th win of the season in the feature topping Humphrey Jr., Rob Brickert, Jake Leitzman, and Tyler Loughmiller.

On Sunday Groomer stopped at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for the Jackson 100. In a field of 29 cars, Derek locked his spot into the main event with a heat race victory. Reeling in his third straight win and 11th overall, Derek Groomer ousted Tyler Nicely, Earl Plessinger, Jeremy Owens, and Jordan Wever at the line claiming the $1,000 payday

September 15, 2018 - Piloting the Bloomfield Sandblasting and Painting #D48 Open Wheel Modified, Derek Groomer was one of 21 cars signed in at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indiana) on Saturday for the regular night of racing. After starting the night off with a heat race victory, Groomer outran Brent Hudson, James Walters, Rob Brickert, and Richie Lex in the feature registering his ninth win of the season.

September 2, 2018 - Saturday night saw Derek Groomer in action at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Indian) competing in a field of 30 Open Wheel Modifieds. Moving up three spots in his heat, Groomer scored a 2nd place finish behind Sydney Landes positioning him on the pole for the A-Main. Holding off 4th-starting Jordan Wever, Derek cruised to his eighth win of the season topping Wever, Tyler Loughmiller, Richie Lex, and Dan Lewellen at the line.

The following night Groomer made his first start of the season at Twin Cities Raceway Park (Mount Vernon, Indiana) but failed to finish the 30-lap feature after suffering mechanical issues.
