Pair of top-five finishes in Late Model, runner-up in Modified

Friday saw Derek Groomer break out his Earnhardt Technologies Group No. D48 Late Model at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.) to make his second start of the season in the Late Model ranks.

In a field 17 Crate Late Models, Groomer held off Steve Peeden in his heat to pick up the eight-lap victory. Racing to a top-five finish in the feature, Derek chased Tyler Neal, Peeden, Josh Boller, and Chad Stapleton to the checkers to claim a fifth-place finish.

Pulling double duty on Saturday at Paragon Speedway (Paragon, Ind.), Derek capped off the weekend with a pair of top-five runs. Following a 10th-to-5th showing in the Crate Late Model A-Main, Groomer led laps 1-22 of the Modified feature before slipping up to finish second. He followed Cole Falloway across the line with Brayden Watson, Bradley Jameson, and Travis Shoulders rounding out the top-five.
